Final Project Summary Post

In this unit of ICT I had learnt what the word blog means by using and exploring it. The word blog means sharing information through contents with audiences, it could be links, texts, videos, images and audios. People can improve by other people's comments and most blogs are set up in reverse chronological order. Different people make a blog for different reasons and I made this blog because I use it as my ICT project, but it is actually to improve my learning about technology. There are lots of ways that I had improved:

• Using the blog will help me to use and gather different materials from websites (books, links, videos etc).
• Using the blog will help me to reflect clearly what I have learnt and what I want to know more about.
• Using the blog will help me to collect some one's own work, which can be looked for a period of time.

Although blogging might be a good way to share and to produce work in the public, but it has the bad side as well. Blogging wrong and inappropriate things could be very dangerous, other people in different countries have suffered the consequences, for example: fired by their boss, expelled from school or even worse than that. When I am engaging the school blog I must be careful by:

• Don't reveal any privacy except for my name.
• Write all posts in formal language.
• Always stick to the school topics and not others.
• Don't write any negative or critical things of other people.
• Don't change or publish any rumors, lies and speculation in my post.

In each blog, the layout and presentation must be good, people should always make things simply and clear for others to read and view.  Most blogs have two main areas which people put information to:

• Sidebar - a place that information could be displayed more permanently.
• Post Area - a place that posts could be displayed. All information will be only displayed here temporarily, before moving to the archive area in the sidebar.

Some other sites might also include header and footer space at the top and the bottom of the blog.

Although I had post my own content on the posts, I also embedded things from other websites. This doesn't mean just to copy and paste, but just using the website's information to my post. During the process of doing this I have learnt the meanings of the following words:

• Embed means the process of placing the website's information to another one.
• Widget means the item that have been placed.
• HTML means the words that was used to do the placing items. It is like codes language in most of the websites.

Using embedding made my blog more interesting. I have embedded things from Youtube Youtube, Delicious including RSS feeds Delicious, Wordle Wordle, Google docs and Library Thing Library Thing. For the Youtube embedding I simply chose a video which is related to what I learnt at school and used the embedding code to embed. The wordle was quite hard to discover how to be embedded into a post, but you actually just were needed to create one and posted it as public to get a code for embedding it. For the library thing and the delicious I have first created an account before embedding anything, then for the delicious I created bookmarks for the delicious, for the library thing I chose some books that I had read and saved it as my favourites. Lastly for the Google docs I simply just need to save it as share public and pressed embed to website and there should be a code for embedding, so I used it for embedding. These 5 are the ones I only had embed and some of them were quite hard to do.


During this project I was needed to comment on other classmates' blog or post, but other people had comment on mine too. These feedbacks will help me to improve what I do to my blog. The comments need to include positive things, any changes that needed to be made and in the future working on this blog what do you need to do.


In every post I made I was needed to label some keywords of what was this post about and the feelings of me doing this post. This labeling activity will help me to organize my posts better, the good thing is it will eventually help me to do all the organizing when I add labels. I was also needed to make a label cloud which is adding up all the labels into one piece, with bigger words showing I had typed that more than the others and the smaller ones are the ones I only typed really little. The label cloud will help the readers to see clearly what the labels are.


When people search things on google it doesn't mean just to type a whole lot of information into Google Search. There are many different search engines that will give you the tool to search the exact thing/ things you want to search. When we search we must make things simple, clear and determined of what we are searching. There are some which is really common to use, for example you can use define, *, "", - and use a zip code when typing for weather of countries, to make your search more targeted.


After doing this unit for ICT I found out that I know more about the technicians on computer of how do they work. I learnt how to put RSS feeds in the sidebar, how to make label clouds in the side bar, how to make a little welcome post in the sidebar and the most unexpected thing is that I learnt how to embed widgets from different websites by using HTML. Most of what I learnt are what I have discovered but some are from my ICT teacher or my friends. The process of creating it, working with it and finishing it was challenging and difficult because I didn't know how to embed and how to move things to the sidebar. I worked extremely hard to accomplish everything which was required by my ICT teacher. The things that I have learnt were very indeed meaningful to me for the future when I might make a blog for my life or just post things about one particular theme but not telling any privacy.


The whole learning process have changed me a lot by always write in formal ways, put appropriate things on the blog but not doing any inappropriate things on computers and in my life and lastly how to use embedding when I create another blog. This will help me to teach my family when they have problem doing anything relevant to what I learnt, I could help myself in other classes by typing the google tips that I know when I am researching something, in the future if I am applied to do something like this I would know what I need to do and in the future if I was needed to make a blog a would certainly know what to do and put in my blog. Next time if I am going to learn something else I will approach what I need to do in the same way because by discovering them myself, listening to the teacher carefully of what to do and asking friends for a little help is a really good way to approach my work and to make my listening, communicating and thinking skills more better.

Over all this project was a really challenging and quite was interesting because what I need to discover to approach my target and what different things I have learnt during this project will help me in the future. After finishing this project I would feel relieved and proud of what I have done. Next time if I am going to create a blog again I would know what to do and how to set up my blog to be attractive to others.
